The Adventure Begins ... Index.

Oh, I've dabbled from time to time, asking questions and jotting stuff down only to lose it and forget about it.  For some reason, though, in recent days I've been OBSESSED with researching my family history.  I've stared at the computer for what seems like days on end, making progress, then reaching dead ends, then finding another branch here and there.  I've dug through scraps of paper that I've written dates and names down on to see if it all makes sense.

Then I had an idea!  Why not start another blog dedicated to my family tree?  Why not, indeed.  So here we are.

The easiest and most well-documented part of my family is straight up the Sullivan paternal line.  So this is where I begin.  In a nutshell, it goes like this:

My dad is Charles L. Sullivan b. 1934
His dad is Ryan O. Sullivan
His dad was Samuel Ulysses Grant Sullivan 1867-1946
His dad was Mitchell Sullivan 1819-1893
His dad was William Sullivan Jr 1790-1843
His dad was William Sullivan 1755-1840
His dad was Owen Sullivan III, b. abt. 1724-1797
His dad was Owen Sullivan II  1699-1790
His dad was Owen O'Sullivan I  1673-1769
His dad was John Thomas O'Sullivan 1637-1698
His dad was Owen-Donel O'Sullivan b. after 1599
His dad was Owen O'Sullivan b. abt. 1570-1616
His dad was Sir Owen O'Sullivan b. before 1549-1594
His dad was Dermod O'Sullivan, The Powdered, b. abt 1500-1549
His dad was Donel O'Sullivan, The Swarthy
His dad was Dermod Balluff O'Sullivan
His dad was Tiege O'Sullivan, The Strong

Points of Interest (to me anyway):

-> Dermond O'Sullivan was the Lord Beare of Dunboy, Dunboy Castle Ireland.  Basically the beginning of the O'Sullivan Clan.

-> Owen-Donel and his son John Thomas were both born Ireland and immigrated to and died in Virginia, USA.

And so my obsession begins ..  birth, death, spouses, children, locations, and other details to follow as I glean them.

So for now..

May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rain fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
